Cord Byrd comes from a family of hunters and firearms enthusiasts. From an early age Cord was taught about hunting, the safe and proper use of firearms and most significantly the importance of the Second Amendment to our continued enjoyment of freedom and liberty.
Cord is a life-long student of the Constitution and its role in preserving limited government. During law school he was disturbed by the assault on our Second Amendment rights and the growing chorus of certain groups who sought to take this cherished right from us. Cord made up his mind then to combine his lifelong passion for the shooting sports with his legal training to support and defend our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Cord has represented and defended gun owners in the following areas:
Second Amendment issues |
FFL holder and licensing issues (ATF revocation hearings) |
Right-to-carry cases |
Improper civil forfeitures |
Employment discrimination cases involving firearms and infringement on civil rights |
Civil rights restoration and restoration of gun rights |
In addition to handling specific cases Cord speaks before gun and hunting groups regarding firearms law and has appeared on local and national radio to discuss gun-owner issues and the law. Cord is a Patron Life Member of the NRA and yearly attends the National Firearms Law Seminar to meet and discuss with other lawyers the most effective ways to defend the Second Amendment.
The purpose and goal of this website is to provide information on the laws regarding the possession, ownership and safe use of firearms as well as provide a method for those needing legal representation to contact Cord to discuss their specific legal needs. Many lawyers are either ignorant of the history and use of firearms, firearms law or are openly hostile to the private ownership of guns. In addition to knowing the laws pertaining to firearms Cord understands the heritage of the shooting sports, the people who engage in it, and the role is has played in our Nation’s history. |
